The PlantingSynopsis: The Invisible Fish AffairSynopsis: Commentary: "Wow! What a script. It reads like a runaway train. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. It's original, pacey and completely zany-but it's funny! Your biggest problem will be pitching it to a movie company and convincing them that, although the theme is based on an unreal premise, once you convince them to suspend belief, it's actually a very funny concept." For those of you who are unfamiliar with British television, Vince is the creator/writer of the classic sitcoms Bless This House (starring Sid James) (1972-1976), Love Thy Neighbour (1973-1976) and Mind Your Language (1977-1986). In addition, Vince is a former head of TV Comedy for Thames Television and was a founding writer on the classic UK soap series Coronation Street. What follows is an excerpt from the 97-page script. Something's Amiss in the BarnyardThis play addresses the topic of euthanasia. It had its premiere run in the 2009 Sydney Short and Sweet Play Festival where it was placed in the top 100 plays. I lost my initial director because he had moral qualms over the play's content. However, it's a comedy that puts forth all sides of the argument in the hopes that dialogue over the issue will be enhanced. The audience liked it. It placed third in audience choice out of the ten plays on that week at NIDA (the National Institute of Dramatic Art). Here is the original script followed by an Australian lexicon for our international readers. Anyone desiring to print or produce the play can contact me to make an arrangement. The Making of a BlockbusterThis play was written under the tutelage of Ron Blair who is a playwright himself and former script editor for the ABC. It is one of my favorite plays because it incorporates a lot of material from a film production seminar as well by Hollywood's Dov Siemens. Synopsis: Anyone desiring to print or produce the play can contact me to make an arrangement. The AgreementThis play was written under the tutelage of the playwright Hilary Bell. I've always been fascinated with the supernatural. It seems to be a great source of dark comedy. Here's an example of the genre. Anyone desiring to print or produce the play can contact me to make an arrangement. SuckersThis is a play I've recently re-written for Sydney's Short and Sweet Play Festival 2011. It will be read at Writer's Anonymous in Sydney on August 16. It is my take on Twilight and the whole subject of vampires. All in good fun. So have a hot toddy, snuggle up by the fire and have a read. Anyone desiring to print or produce the play can contact me to make an arrangement. Identity TheftThis short story was published in The Common Thread Anthology in 2009. Based on a true incident, it tells how I lost my driver's license and suffered an attack of Woody Allen neuroses. Anyone desiring to print the story can contact me to make an arrangement. Ticket KarmaYet another story based on real incidents in my life. This one was published in The Common Thread Anthology in 2007. Alas, the Woody Allen image haunts my past once more only this Freudian story bemoans my inability to get my tickets in order. Anyone desiring to print the story can contact me to make an arrangement. |
